Dr. Buford was Director of Internet Technologies at Verizon and Chief Architect-OSS at GTE Laboratories. While at Verizon and GTE, he managed a variety of OSS products and professional services projects. Dr. Buford was also VP of Software Development at Kada Systems where he managed software development for mobile and embedded devices for Cisco, Texas Instruments, and Analog Devices. Earlier, he was a consultant to more than a dozen Fortune 500 companies, and was tenured Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he also directed the Distributed Multimedia Systems Laboratory. more ... |

During his 20-year tenure at Verizon Communications and GTE, he held various senior technical leadership roles. Three times he was awarded GTE's highest award for technical achievement for business results. Dr. Jakobson led the development of several industry leading systems spanning switching, signaling, transport, and wireless networks. These systems included performance management, security management, network planning, and distributed event correlation.
